SEPT 16 (SAT) 12:00: HUDSON RIVER VALLEY RAMBLE: We are very proud to be part of the Hudson River Valley Ramble this year. The Ramble is a month-long celebration of outdoor activities throughout the Hudson Valley. On Saturday, Sept 16, walk the trails at Leon Levy Preserve with Lewisboro naturalist Jim Nordgren. Visit the Native Plant Garden, deer exclosures, and the ruins of the late 19th century Black Mansion. Moderate/easy walk. 1-1/2 hrs; 2 miles. Meet at the LLP parking area on Route 123, about 1/4 south of Route 35. Steady rain cancels.

OCTOBER 8th (SUN) 10:00: FALL FOLIAGE HIKE: ard Pound Ridge Reservation. We will hike the Leatherman’s loop to the lookout for views of the cross river reservoir. Approx 3 miles ; 1-1/2 hrs. Led by Peggy Nordgren. Rated moderate. Meet at the parking area at the end of Michigan Road. Michigan Road is the first right after you go through the entry booth at the Reservation. A small per-car entry fee applies. Steady rain cancels.

OCTOBER- DATE TBD: OPENING OF THE “NATURE TRAIL” at OLD FIELD PRESERVE.
Walk Lewisboro’s newest educational nature addition with a naturalist and explore diverse ecosystems at OFP. Children and adult programs planned. Refreshments.

NOVEMBER 4 (SAT) 10:00: FALL HIKE, “Linking trials in Lewisboro”: “Linking trials in Lewisboro”. Hike Old Field Preserve to Town Park into Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. 4-5 miles approx 2 hrs. moderately paced, led by Bonnie Robins. Meet at the parking area of Old Field Preserve, on Mead Street, Waccabuc, at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road. Steady rain cancels.

NOVEMBER 14 (MON) 3:00-5:00: KIWI PROGRAM: “Remembrance Wreaths and Rocks”: We will meet at the outdoor classroom at the newly-created Meditation Garden at Old Field Preserve on Mead Street in Waccabuc (at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road0 to discuss how to create a remembrance of (or in honor of) a loved one — person or pet — then go on a short hike to gather natural materials, return to the garden, and make their tokens. The kids will then place their creations in the garden area in honor of the loved one. The children may be proud to return and show others how to do the same. Ages 6-10. $25 fee. Bring water and wear clothing/footwear appropriate for a hike. Pre-registration required. Contact Lewisboro Parks & Rec Dept at parks@lewisborogov.com
